»Semi active headrest – SemiAVA« was chosen at the public call for proposals for »Direct incentives for joint development – investment projects – RIP 09«.

The purpose of the project was to develop a semi-active self-adjustable headrest since the headrest position is directly dependant on the adjusted distance between the seat and the steering wheel or the pedal box. The headrest height is now automatically adjusted by moving the seat forward/backward. One of the main reasons for head and whiplash injuries is still unsuitable headrest height adjustment despite contemporary headrest options.

The project took place in years 2009 – 2011. Besides TPV, CADCAM LAB from Ljubljana and and the Laboratory for Design Evaluation of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Ljubljana were also involved in the project.
